Show Booking Basics

  • Pick 3-5 bands to play the show. Usually there are 1 or 2 touring acts, while the rest are locals with a good draw.
  • Create (or have someone else create) an eye-catching flier with all of the show information on it: Bands, venue and address, time, and cost.

  • Create a facebook event with all of the information and the flier.
  • Physically post the flier around the city in effective places: music shops, bars, cafes, college campuses, etc.
  • Share the event on social media. Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Make sure the local bands also help promote the show.
  • Exchange contact information with all of the bands and venue beforehand in case something goes awry.
  • Have a trustworthy friend help you manage the show. For example, you can take the money at the door while your friend helps oversee the bands setting up.
  • Bring some change for the door! People like to bring $20 bills for shows that cost $5.
